Emerge Fashion Show

Receiving public recognition for a job well done, fuels my passion even further. Here is an article from The Namibian Newspaper, about the Emerge Fashion Show I part took in, last year.

"Designers Pull Out All the Stops for Emerge Fashion Show

Namibia's talented crop of fashion designers showed their creative prowess as they showcased showstopper after showstopper at the first ever Emerge Fashion Show. Held at the Franco Namibian Cultural Centre (FNCC), the event was truly spectacular, with the settings for the ramp, lighting and all other logistics running smoother than a well oiled engine.
With Windhoek's fash pack coming out in full force to witness the event, no time was wasted in showing them what their favourite designers have been up to for the year.

First up on the list was Chakirra Claasen, whose collection was made up of her signature couture garments in warm colours and textures. She drew inspiration from the Namibian landscape for this collection, which she plans to build on for a future fashion show.

Upcoming designers like Jaimee-Lee Diergaardt were also a force to reckon with. Diergaardt stunned the crowd with bright, colourful, happy pieces. Her take on the ball gown is very lively, with a splash of colour and unusual cut-outs.

Other up-and-comers equally shone. Leah Misika's line is reminiscent of 40s Hollywood glamour, with tassles that render flirty movement on her very modern garments. If you were expecting anything earthy from Lafika Joyce Heita this time around, you were in for a surprise. The multitasking designer opted for blue hues when it came to her trademark way of adding her own colour to the textiles she uses..."

Building walls

I constantly find myself going through a stage in my life whereby I built walls.
I am starting to question who I am protecting, me or them?
Am I afraid to get hurt? Or so afraid to hurt another that I'd rather keep them at arms length, with the belief I'm doing them a favour?
Irrespective, walls I build.

Free Me

"Lord, break me free from jealously.
Free me from insecurity.
So that I can love again.

Free me from anger.
Free me from doubt.
So I can see again.

Free me from 'nevers.'
Free me from me, from myself.
So I can live again.

Lord, free my soul."

Uricke

She was just a girl.
A flower picked to soon.
Never allowed to blossom, never allowed to fully bloom.
Picked before her time, a flower so delicate, so pure.
Stolen from our meadow, starved of the love needed.
No more will we see her petals of absolute beauty that only her heart could hold.

Numb and Fine

The hardest thing in life is letting go of what you thought was real.

"It hurts until it doesn't.
You think it's going to break you, but it won't.
You may not sleep as well at night, but you will be fine.
Numb, but numb and fine are the same."
Scandal

Okay with not being okay.

If letting go of things were easy, a lot of people wouldn't be reminiscing on things that still hurts.
"Accept your heartbreak. One can not stop pain. Pain is meant to be felt. Cry if you must.  Let it consume you if you must, and then allow it to be over..."

Don't be concerned with forgetting, moving on, letting go or anything people tell you that you need to do.You will do it in your own time,if you need to. It will happen when the time is right and no matter how much you want to control things, you can't.

"...Say goodbye after having fully experienced it. Learn from it, learn the meaning of decisions. Afterwards, you will admire your courage and your strength. Then you'll never allow anyone to break you in the same way again. " Mirtha Michelle

So, if there is something to let go of, let it be the pressure you have given yourself to feel nothing/get over/be at a certain point in your healing. Its okay to not be okay. Its okay to not be ready to let go.

Embrace the uncertainty

"If you're feeling frightened about what comes next, in all aspects of your life, don't be.
Embrace the uncertainty. Allow it to lead you places. Be brave as it challenges you to exercise both your heart and your mind as you create your own path towards happiness; don't waste time with regret.
Spin wildly into your next action.
Enjoy the present, each moment, as it comes, because you'll never get another one quite like it.

And if you should ever look up and find yourself lost, simply take a breath and start over.
Retrace your steps and go back to the purest place in your heart...
Where your hope lives."
You will find your way again.

Life Long

My life long goal in life is to be happy.
Genuinely, intensely and consistently happy, regardless of what that looks like to others.
